The men’s marathon was run on a very different circuit from the annual London marathon and involved three eight mile laps and a two mile finish, hence it was difficult to find good angles given the very large crowd of spectators. Â All of the shot were taken in Eastcheap.

We rehearsed for more than 150 hours over three months in the wind and the rain but every minute was worth it. Â The technical rehearsals were amazing and on the night while the world stood still, other planets may have watched.

On 1 August 2012 retired lecturer, John Rayment, started his 6,000 miles walk round the coast of Britain, raising money for Parkinson’s Charities with a send off by family and friends at Tilbury passenger ferry.
